Sheikh Abdul Rashid who is the later father of our Chairman, was one of the leading distributors of Feature films in Pakistan. He was associated with stalwarts from the Indian film industry before partition and kept a strategic relationship beyond 1947. AR Films which was formed under Mr. Rashid’s leadership went on to produce and distribute some memorable Pakistani films in the 70s and the 80s. Due to the lack of support from the government and the deplorable state of the local film industry, AR films suspended its activities.
However the Government of Pakistan recently allowed the screening of Indian movies in Pakistan. AR Films was revived as IMGC ENTERTAINMENT and we tied up with one of the biggest production houses in India – Yashraj Films to bring movies into Pakistan.
DOSTANA which was released in 2008 went on to become one of the biggest hits in the Pakistani market in that year. Since then IMGC has exclusively distributed YASHRAJ films in Pakistan as well as movies from other production houses like Studio 18 and UTV Motion Pictures.
Our recent releases NEW YORK, KAMINEY and DIL BOLE HADIPPA have all emerged as box office winners.
